Wider Horizons has been created through the collaboration of the University of Worcester and a group of Further Education Colleges in the Worcester and Hereford area.
It is planned to extend the number of contributors to include more colleges, other educational organisations, employers and companies, libraries and other public services.
The aim is to create a regional online community where local people and organisations can be part of an educational network designed to help everyone make the best of educational opportunities of all kinds throughout their life.
Wider Horizons is based at the University of Worcester, managed by the Lifelong Learning Network of Herefordshire and Worcestershire. It is jointly led by the HWLLN and the University’s Information and Learning Services.
Wider Horizons is built with key contributions from a group of local institutions:
Hereford College of Arts
Herefordshire College of Technology
Kidderminster College
South Worcestershire College
Warwickshire College/Pershore College
Worcester College of Technology
Royal National College for the Blind
University of Birmingham
Open University
JISC Regional Support Centre
Wider Horizons will be piloted with groups of users beginning in Autumn 2008, and will have its public launch on 27th Jan 2009. As time goes on the range and scope of Wider Horizons will increase in keeping with its usage.
Local colleges, institutions and organisations are most welcome to join in the development of this online community and play a part. Employers and companies are also most welcome to become involved. If the organisation you represent is interested, please get in touch with the project leader:
